Alipay+, SGQR Alipay+ recently announced that it has integrated into SGQR, the world’s first unified payment QR code, and is now available as a payment option at all hawker centres in Singapore.

Enabled by its continued partnership with NETS, Alipay+ aims to continue to drive digital payments innovation to empower local merchants, including micro businesses like hawkers, and enhancing the traveller experience. Tourists from across the world looking to make payments at Singapore’s delicious hawker food stalls can now do so with added convenience.

As per the MAS website, Singapore Quick Response Code (SGQR) is the world’s first unified payment QR code. It combines multiple payment QR codes into a single SGQR label, making QR payments simple for both consumers and merchants. Consumers just need to look out for the SGQR label to see which payment options a merchant accepts, while merchants only need to display one SGQR label instead of many labels. The SGQR scheme is co-owned by MAS and IMDA.

Developed by Ant Group, Alipay+ helps payment apps connect global consumers to local merchants and brands, unlocking fresh dining, shopping and travel experiences across Asia and beyond. Alipay+ supports transactions in 27 different currencies, as well as tax reimbursement in 35 countries and regions.
