CIMB Bank Vietnam and Viva Republica roll out new CIMB- Toss debit card

Vietnam’s CIMB Bank and Toss app operator – Viva Republica have reportedly rolled out the CIMB- Toss debit card following the success of CIMB and Toss virtual card, launched in July 2020. The new debit card service combines technology solutions and benefits such as the digital KYC solution offered by CIMB, Visa payWave contactless payment capabilities, etc. Users will be required to open a CIMB bank account via the Toss app for conducting transactions at retail stores with a physical debit card.

Thomson Fam, CEO at CIMB Bank, stated, “At CIMB bank, we’re willing to do things differently. It’s a common thread that runs through all the choices we’ve made so far, and broadly speaking, we now admit that we’re on a mission to transform every part of your banking experience with excellent delivery from Toss.”

Customers have the ability to block payments and transfers in case of any unauthorised access to their accounts, while still using their virtual cards for purchases.

Earlier this year, CIMB Bank, Singapore Branch signed an agreement to partner with ICHX, operator of capital markets platform iSTOX. The partnership will enable CIMB clients in the ASEAN region to have access to a faster, more flexible and efficient way to raise funds at a lower cost. iSTOX is a regulated capital markets platform which supports one-stop issuance, custody and secondary trading of digitised securities.
