ABN AMRO to add Google Pay to its payment options

ABN AMRO will be adding Google Pay to its payment options. The company clients will soon be able to pay quickly and easily for in-person, in-app and online purchases using their Android smartphone within the ABN AMRO app, at no extra charge. ABN AMRO, recently, along with Rabobank are collaborating with TNO on a project called Multi-Party Computation for Anti Money Laundering (MPC4AML).
“We see a strong demand among our clients for ways to make payments using Android phones, so we’re delighted to be able to add Google Pay to our range of payment tools,” said Maarten van Rutte, Business Developer Digital Payments at ABN AMRO. “The new, innovative functions Google Pay offers are a good fit for our strategy of building a future-proof bank.”
Recently, ABN AMRO teamed up with Charly Cares in a bid to launch a pilot for providing babysitters with instant access to their earnings immediately after they finished their jobs. According to the company stated that gig workers in the Netherlands are forced to wait days if not weeks to receive their earnings, while they would have received their money right away if not working for a platform. The new service aims to offer gig workers and their platforms with instant access to earning for services delivered. It will leverage ABN AMRO’s payment technology that allows for instant transfer of funds to any bank account with a fast onboarding process.
