India-based RateGain Travel Technologies Limited has partnered with Cashfree Payments to enhance its payments infrastructure, appointing the firm as a platinum partner for its RG Pay platform.

The collaboration integrates Cashfree’s domestic payment gateway and cross-border payments stack into RG Pay, enabling Indian consumers to make payments to international travel merchants across 176 countries using local instruments such as UPI and RuPay cards. The move is aimed at improving checkout performance and transaction success rates for global travel brands targeting Indian customers.

RG Pay, RateGain’s unified payments layer for the travel and hospitality sector, combines features such as optimised checkout, affordability options, virtual card issuance, and cross-border settlement. By embedding Cashfree’s infrastructure, the platform seeks to address longstanding inefficiencies in travel payments, which often involve multiple intermediaries, fragmented systems, and high-value international transactions.

“Payments in the travel sector are inherently complex, involving multiple stakeholders and high-value cross-border transactions,” said Akash Sinha, CEO & Co-founder, Cashfree Payments. “By combining Cashfree Payments’ payment infrastructure and cross-border capabilities with RateGain’s deep understanding of travel and hospitality, we aim to help travel brands deliver secure, reliable, and locally relevant payment journeys for travelers worldwide. This partnership is a significant step toward setting a new global standard for travel financial infrastructure.”

“RG Pay extends RateGain’s platform capabilities into the financial layer of travel commerce, helping brands improve how payments are accepted and settled across markets,” said Parijat Tiwari, Executive Vice President & General Manager, Distribution, RateGain “By bringing Cashfree Payments’ scalable payment infrastructure into the RG Pay ecosystem as a Platinum Partner, we are enabling travel and hospitality companies to support local payment preferences and deliver more reliable transaction experiences for travelers worldwide.”

The partnership reflects a broader trend in FinTech and travel convergence, where payment orchestration and localisation are becoming central to conversion optimisation. As international travel demand rebounds and digital payments adoption deepens, platforms that can seamlessly bridge domestic payment methods with global merchant networks are likely to gain competitive advantage.

By enabling local payment acceptance at scale, RateGain and Cashfree are positioning RG Pay as a more comprehensive infrastructure layer for travel commerce, addressing both front-end user experience and back-end settlement efficiency.
