Plumery, the digital banking experience platform, has expanded into Canada with the launch of market-specific capabilities designed to empower Canadian credit unions to deliver personalised, compliant, and future-ready digital banking experiences. The initiative is supported through a strategic collaboration with Vancouver-based Aequilibrium, whose expertise in Canadian regulation and user experience ensures the platform is finely attuned to the country’s financial landscape.
The announcement arrives at a defining moment for Canadian financial institutions. With customer expectations rising, competition from FinTechs intensifying, and pressure mounting to modernise legacy infrastructure, the need for transformation has never been greater. The decision by Central 1 Credit Union to wind down its Forge (formerly MemberDirect) digital platform, which until recently supported more than 170 credit unions nationwide, has further accelerated the urgency for institutions to secure a new foundation for their digital futures.
This shift represents both a challenge and an opportunity. While credit unions must act quickly to identify a replacement platform, they also have the chance to embrace modern technology that provides greater flexibility and positions them to compete more effectively on user experience. Plumery’s Canadian-ready platform directly addresses this need, offering a comprehensive suite of features aligned with local banking practices, regulatory requirements and customer expectations. From everyday banking services such as bill payments, cheque deposits and Interac e-Transfers, to support for Canadian savings and lending products including GICs, mortgages and student loans, the platform has been carefully localised to reflect how Canadians bank. It also extends to business banking functions such as bulk payments and payroll management, while embedding essential compliance measures including bilingual English and French support, adherence to privacy and data residency standards, and full accessibility alignment.
Ben Goldin, CEO & Founder of Plumery, said, “With Forge winding down, Canadian institutions have a rare opportunity to modernise on their own terms, rather than being tied to outdated systems. Our platform provides an immediate, future-ready option that puts control back in the hands of credit unions. By working with Aequilibrium, we are combining global banking innovation with local expertise to deliver experiences that meet the unique needs of Canadian credit unions’ members.”
