IBS Intelligence has been reviewing the conventional and new-age banking systems selections on year by year basis for the last 20 years. The iconic IBSI’s Sales League Table (SLT) has been a barometer for measuring supplier performance across hundreds of various system selection engagements that are carried out across the globe. The Sales League Table Report is developed based on the details submitted by over 62 suppliers who are ranked on the SLT, which also captures the details of their wins.
The data collated over time has allowed IBSI to compare each year’s banking systems market performance and analyze trends across years both in terms of system sales and geographic focus. The analysis constitutes the industry’s real picture of who has been buying what and where; and would seem to be particularly useful when one delves into detail.
The IBSI Sales League Table 2020 (SLT 2020) is a special edition for three key reasons. Firstly, it shows the impressive year of banking technology sales in 2019. Secondly, it witnessed the participation of suppliers grow to 62 from 53 – highlighting the SLT as the most sought-after platform to showcase global sales success. Thirdly, given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it may be a long while before we see this level of activity within the banking technology market.
Of the 2,500 deals evaluated, the qualified deals of SLT 2020 included 890 global deals (SLT 2019: 600+) and over 980 domestic deals (SLT 2019: 500+) across all SLT categories. The trend from last year continued with the volume of conventional banking system deals getting overshadowed by new focus areas such as digital banking, transaction banking, payments, risk management, and compliance, whose cumulative volumes were significantly higher.
