Digital financial technology provider, Wirecard, has announced a partnership with India-based RBL Bank with an aim to promote financial inclusion in India. The partnership is expected to facilitate increased access to digital payments and banking transactions for the unbanked population as well as for the ones in the remote areas.

“Our extended partnership with RBL Bank will help bring even more essential transaction services to both urban and rural residents India-wide, regardless of their bank. As a leading digital financial services provider, we are excited to support this innovative solution,” said Anil Kapur, Managing Director India at Wirecard. “Together with RBL Bank, we are addressing the needs of consumers who demand quick and secure financial services, no matter where they are located.”

The supplier states that the partnership with RBL Bank will provide Wirecard’s retail agents with an avenue to provide and expand its digital financial services. It is expected to assist the company in propelling the process of digital banking enablement for the unbanked population through cash withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries. The service is available to all Indian citizens with an Aadhaar number linked to a bank account.

Recently, Wirecard announced an expansion of its partnership with the telecommunications provider O2 Czech Republic in a bid to provide their enhanced mPOS project to a wider group of merchants across Europe.
