PayKey has been crowed the winner of the Temenos Innovation Jam, the vendor’s annual competition to find industry-changing startups.

The winners were chosen by an audience at Temenos’ Community Forum event in Lisbon, Portugal. Finalists from the Geneva, Miami, Singapore, London and Abu Dhabi regional heats competed to win the affection of the 1,200 crowd.

The Miami audience’s winner, Israel-based PayKey, is a social payment solution that enables banks to provide customers with a peer-to-peer payment option built into their mobile phone.

Through the use of a third-party keyboard synced to their bank, users can instantly send payments to recipients via social messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and SnapChat. The firm has already raised more than $6 million in funding and is working in four regions across the globe, including Australia and Norway.

Other companies involved in the Jam included, Xtremepush, Scannovate, SalesARM, EasyEquities, Moroku, CapitalPreferences, Blue Code and EdgeLab.
