WorldRemit appoints two product and marketing execs

UK-based mobile payments group WorldRemit has appointed two product and marketing executives to report directly to CEO Breon Corcoran.

Ian Cafferky joins WorldRemit from O2 where he was responsible for brand and marcomms, leading the O2 brand to Marketing Society UK Brand of the Year in 2015. He is responsible for developing the brand, and creating breakthrough marketing and CRM campaigns to drive WorldRemit’s presence in key markets.

Stephen Lovell joins from MILVIK BIMA where he was responsible for product and technology development, disrupting the global insurance and health industries. He is responsible for WorldRemit’s programme of new services and innovations, which will underpin plans to ramp up growth at the international payments business after its successful $175 million Series D fundraise last year.

Breon Corcoran, CEO of WorldRemit said: “The mix of Stephen and Ian’s consumer and digital backgrounds makes them fantastic additions to WorldRemit and I’m excited to have them both on board for 2020. Their expertise will help us innovate our service offerings and grow the business.”

Stephen Lovell said: “I am excited to be joining WorldRemit, the company’s purpose of supporting people around the world to manage their money more easily is a crucial one with today’s increasingly global workforce.”

Ian Cafferky said: “I am excited by the potential of the brand given its roots in migrant remittances and the management’s ambitious growth. I’ll be hitting the ground running with plans of my own to really bring our story and what we stand for to our customers and the market, increasing our customer base and market reach even further.”

WorldRemit currently sends from 50 to 150 countries, operates in 6,500 money transfer corridors worldwide and employs more than 800 people worldwide. On the sending side WorldRemit is 100% digital (cashless), increasing convenience and enhancing security. For those receiving money, the company offers a wide range of options including bank deposit, cash collection, mobile airtime top-up and mobile money.
