Wirecard has announced a partnership with UTI Infrastructure Technology and Services Limited (UTIITSL), the Indian government-owned issuer of Permanent Account Number (PAN) cards. The partnership aims to facilitate the issue of PAN cards and will see Wirecard’s retail agents collect documents needed for PAN cards and forward them to UTIITSL.

Anil Kapur, Managing Director India at Wirecard, said, “As the partner of choice for one of India’s leading government-owned financial service providers, we are delighted to be part of the project to bring PAN cards to more people. Through this cooperation, we have proven Wirecard’s power in global technology services and our ability to create solutions for a wide range of consumers and industries to create a better tomorrow for all.”

According to the supplier, through the collaboration UTIITSL’s services will be expanded to 350 cities and will be served by approximately 15,000 authorized Wirecard agents. PAN Cards allow tax entities and individuals to keep a track of tax payments and declarations and are an effective measure against tax evasion in India.

Recently, Wirecard teamed up with RBL Bank with an aim to promote financial inclusion in India where the partnership aimed to facilitate access to digital payments and banking transactions for the unbanked population as well as for the ones in the remote areas.
