Neonomics, Kivra partner for first Finnish PSD2 payment solution

Norwegian provider of open banking APIs, Neonomics, has teamed up with digital invoice mailbox Kivra to launch the first live PSD2 payment solution in Finland.Neonomics logo

The partnership means that Neonomics’ API, which has been connected to all major Finnish banks, will allow customers to pay invoices from the Kivra digital mailbox, available through mobile apps and websites.

This is one of the first practical applications of PSD2 payment APIs across Europe, the companies said in a statement announcing the partnership, which went live at the start of February.

The solution provides a cost-effective and user-centric solution for customers across Finland, helping them to pay their regular invoices directly through the Kivra app or website.

Neonomics’ CEO and founder Christoffer Andvig commented: “We consider this to be a standout use case for the PSD2 payment initiation service, giving Kivra’s customers an easier way to pay their invoices, whilst at the same time reducing the cost of payments for the business.

“Kivra was quick to realise the opportunities that PSD2 can bring, and it’s fantastic that they have chosen to rely on Neonomics for the service.”

Neonomics, which is based in Oslo, Norway, provides global banking coverage of 1,650 banks to financial institutions and third-party providers through one API.

Kivra AB was established in Sweden in 2011, where it has 3.5 million users. Kivra Oy, its Finnish subsidiary, is owned by Kivra AB, Telia and Resurs Bank and helps both private individuals and companies to replace paper-based invoices with digital documents. It launched in Finland in 2018.

Kivra Oy’s CEO Miika Salo said: “We have been working closely with Neonomics since last summer, integrating, testing, and improving the usability and stability of PSD2 payment services. Neonomics stood out as the leading platform, offering a simple and effective solution that’s connected to all of the major Finnish banks. Being a pioneer is never easy and Neonomics has proven to be a reliable and responsive service provider.”
