Nationwide and Qlik to improve employees’ data literacy

Lee Raybould, chief data officer at Nationwide

Nationwide Building Society has announced its partnership with data integration and analytics provider, Qlik, in a bid to propel its data transformation program. The partnership is expected to strengthen Nationwide’s employee data literacy through enhanced data insights and decision making.

“As a mutual organization without shareholders, everything we do has to have optimal value for our members. Qlik is not only providing the technical foundation to make Nationwide a data-enabled company but also assisting the cultural development of every employee through our ‘Fit to Fly’ ambitions. By democratizing access to data throughout Nationwide, we are starting to build our culture around it and enhancing its credibility as the basis for new ideas and insights,” commented Lee Raybould, chief data officer at Nationwide.

Qlik’s solution was first utilized for Nationwide’s Commercial Team and it has expanded its offerings into the company along with the integration of Qlik Analytics Platform. The solution aims to facilitate a data-driven culture within the company. According to the supplier, Qlik provides the tool to consolidate disparate data, break down internal silos and aims to drive value. It is expected to deliver actionable insights and visible data-led culture.

“Our work with Nationwide highlights the positive impact that becoming a data-led organization can have on a business,” said Simon Kirby, director of financial services industry solutions at Qlik. “While technical analytics solutions play a crucial role, a company will never become data-enabled without cultural change and buy-in from the entire workforce. This goes hand in hand with giving people the means to analyze, argue with and make decisions using data in their daily working lives. That a large financial services organization with lots of complex processes can re-define working practices with data shows the potential for other businesses in the industry and beyond.”

Qlik offers end-to-end, real-time data integration and analytics solutions that aims to help organizations access and transform all their data into value. Qlik helps companies lead with data to see more deeply into customer behavior, reinvent business processes, discover new revenue streams, and balance risk and reward.
