Microsoft releases Blockchain-as-a-Service platform for developers

Microsoft is making a Blockchain-as-a-Service platform available to all users of its Azure testing environment. Available in the company’s DevTest Labs, the platform is designed to help developers create environments in Azure and control the costs that come with development work. It features reusable templates and virtual machines and an artefact that tells apps what actions to take when deployed.

“DevTest Labs for Blockchain as a Service helps developers and testers to quickly create virtual machines in Azure to deploy and test their blockchain applications. You can easily provision Windows and Linux machines using reusable templates while minimizing waste and controlling cost,” Microsoft writes on a blog post.

It joins a number of similar blockchain projects underway at the company, including MultiChain, Eris, Storj and a prediction market named Augur.
