IT services firm Mindtree names Debashis Chatterjee as CEO, MD

MindtreeBengaluru-based IT services firm Mindtree on Friday appointed Debashis Chatterjee as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

Chatterjee is joining Mindtree after working with Cognizant for 22 years. He was previously President, Global Delivery and Global Leader for the Digital Systems and Technology practice at US- based Cognizant.

He will assume office from Friday for a term of five years till August 1, 2024.

He had earlier worked with IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.

Commenting on the appointment, Group Chairman of Larsen & Toubro, A M Naik said Chatterjee’s “diverse experience and strong client focused approach will take Mindtree to the next level of growth and create enormous value to all the stake holders.”

Chatterjee takes charge after previous CEO Rostow Ravanan stepped down from the post, days after L&T acquired a majority stake in the company in July.

Chatterjee will work out of the company’s Bengaluru office.

Mindtree also appointed S N Subrahmanyan as non-executive vice-chairman of the company, it said in a filing to the exchanges.

Subrahmanyan currently is the CEO and managing director of L&T, a promoter of the company.

Recently, Mindtree joined Hyperledger – an open-source collaborative effort created for the advancement of cross-industry blockchain technologies.
