GoBear appoints Nelson Allen as its Chief Marketing Officer

GoBear, AsiaSingapore-based GoBear, a financial supermarket in Asia has appointed Nelson Allen as its Chief Marketing Officer. Allen has 2 decades of experience gained mainly in the Asia Pacific region. FinTech company GoBear is a financial services organisation focused on improving financial inclusion throughout the ASEAN region.

GoBear CEO Adrian Chng says, “Nelson has a solid track record in strategy and integrated marketing, having worked with some of the world’s biggest brands the likes of Microsoft and Samsung. He’ll make a great addition to our culture, and I’m eager to see where he takes our Bear!”

Allen joined GoBear at the start of April. Getting his start with Samsung in Korea, he helped the company strengthen its global marketing strategy first while working as an internal consultant in the Global Strategy Group, before assuming the role of Marketing Director for its Digital Media Business. Later, as Microsoft’s APAC Director for Xbox, his work in retail sales and marketing is said to have driven the Xbox 360 market share from last place to Asia’s top-selling console.

In his next role as Senior Marketing Director with Expedia Group, he led a series of regional campaigns that raised brand awareness for Recognised for his leadership and achievements, Allen was subsequently appointed General Manager for in APAC, where he accelerated business growth across the region.

In his role as GoBear’s Chief Marketing Officer, Allen will focus on defining the company’s overall marketing strategy, further growing its brand awareness and aligning the marketing executions to scale. Of his appointment, he says, “GoBear already has an amazing brand platform, so there are huge opportunities to build “brand love” in new and innovative ways with our end consumers across Asia. I’m also firmly committed to the company’s mission of helping people improve their financial health.”

In April, Parsippany-based Provenir, a risk decisioning and data analytics software, announced that GoBear has chosen its platform to power user experiences for customers, and has deployed the technology through a ‘virtual’ team approach amidst the current COVID-19 crisis.
