European payments services provider, Worldline’s subsidiary equensWorldline has announced the launch of a browser-based Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) solution, WL Trusted Authentication, in a bid to offer customized SCA solutions for each user profile thereby enabling SCA for users not equipped with a mobile device.

Wolf Kunisch, Chief Business Division Officer at equensWorldline, ” This new browser solution is an inevitable complement to the mobile channel, both for populations not equipped with smartphones (or as a bypass solution, in the event of a telephone failure). What’s more, with the next version of this module, using the WebAuthn API defined by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), it will be possible to offer biometric control also on the browser, and thus offer the same authentication factors that currently exist on the mobile application.”

According to the supplier, its solution has universal coverage and is available for mobile applications and web browsers. The new solution is expected to enable banks to provide SCA without the need for external hardware such as tokens. The solution allows the users to enroll their browser and perform strong authentication with the kinematics used while assessing one’s online bank.

Recently, Worldline and subsidiary equensWorldline signed a strategic partnership with Nordic Finance Innovation (NFI), a fintech executive network in the Nordics.
