Middle eastern bank Emirates NBD has announced the launch of Voice Banking solutions which has been powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). This launch is expected to allow customers to track their spendings and listen to market briefings on their Amazon Alexa devices.

“Emirates NBD has always been at the forefront of banking innovations and Voice Banking is another step in this direction as we utilize new technologies to enhance overall customer experiences”, said Suvo Sarkar, Senior Executive Vice President and Group Head – Retail Banking and Wealth Management at Emirates NBD. “Customers are increasingly looking to connect with banks using natural speech as it provides significantly enhanced convenience and our introduction of Voice Banking is a step towards building an AI-based conversational ecosystem for our customers across all touchpoints”.

The supplier has stated that their skill for Amazon Alexa will enable users to ask for their account, credit card balances and transaction details through either an Amazon Echo speaker or Alexa-enabled headsets or mobile phones. It will also facilitate the provision of information on new products, general programs or the bank’s initiatives. The new service has been created under the bank’s Better Together program, leverages APIs built-in line with open banking standards and extends ENBD’s relationship with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Recently, Emirates NBD entered into a partnership with enterprise provider SAP, for implementing its Financial Services Data Platform.
