Al Baraka Bank completes biometrics testing phase in Pakistan

Al Baraka Bank Pakistan has completed testing of a new biometric verification system from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

Integrated testing had initially been conducted in order to ensure proper communication between the new system and Al Baraka Bank’s core platform, AutoBanker from AutoSoft Dynamics.

The State Bank of Pakistan has ruled that customers wanting to use the system must register themselves with NADRA, with a deadline for the implementation of the new system set for March 2016.

“By taking on the robust Biometric Verification System using their standard API’s, [Al Baraka] can offer a seamless solution for customers opening accounts,” says Autosoft.

The biometric system will also drill down to branch-level, allowing operation of lockers, transaction approvals and enhanced security protocols.

Al Baraka Bank Pakistan is a subsidiary of the Al Baraka Banking Group, which holds a presence in 12 countries globally. It employs around 7,250 staff and has an annual revenue of more than $634 million.

The group offers Islamic retail, corporate and investment banking services in adherence to the principles of Shari’ah.
